Amazon Alexa Can Order an Uber

Added on by Chris Saad.

I am so psyched about this. I use Amazon Alexa every single day. I use it to control my lights, give me news briefings, listen to music, check on the weather/time and so much more.

And now, I can use it to order an Uber! Via the API! So. Damn. Cool!!

Bringing Uber's New Look To Life

Added on by Chris Saad.

When we first saw this video internally, it was after an awesome speech from Travis in front of ~5000 Uber employees. The music became the theme song of an epic and productive week together.

This brand refresh will allow Uber to weave the culture of the cities we serve into our products and services - and vice versa. Love it.

Being a Manager vs. An Employee

Added on by Chris Saad.

I like to think that because I've spent a lot of my career being a 'leader' or a 'manager' that it makes me a better 'employee' or 'direct report'.

I have empathy for what's being asked of me and the person doing the asking. I have an understanding of how it feels to have someone you're relying on 'just get it done'.

Of course, I fail as much, or more, as I succeed. But I think it gives me an interesting perspective.

Transparency for Developers

Added on by Chris Saad.

Working to ensure a Platform has empathy & transparency for developers takes intentional effort. You don’t get it for free. Worth it though.

Having been on the wrong side of the Platform Risk equation multiple times in my career, I'm committed to doing my best to signal clearly and act thoughtfully so that the Uber Developer Platform is a safe, profitable and powerful opportunity for developers to innovate.

Announcing Uber Trip Experiences

Added on by Chris Saad.

Very, very proud to announce Uber Trip Experiences today.

This significantly broadens the possibilities of the Uber Developer Platform by going beyond 'Intent to Ride' to enable use-cases that enrich the trip itself.

I believe the most important in-car entertainment system is the device you cary in your hand. To make this a reality we're turning the trip into an app development platform.

This has been a notion in my head since before I joined Uber. The execution, however, was super fast. A real testament to the incredible talent in the team and the nimbleness of the company.

I can't wait to see what developers do with this!

Amazing work done by the whole team.
